<lj:music>"Popular" from the OBC!</lj:music>

Idina Menzel is ENTIRELY overrated.

Listen up and I will explain. First off, ANYONE who can win a Tony for slopping on some green make-up, wearing black clothes that aren't even slimming, and also GLASSES? Oh. My. God. They should be BANNED. Banned from doing musical theatre ever ever EVER again.

That is not performing! Did you see cute little Kristin Chenowith, however, in the lovely duel roles of Glinda/Galinda in the same show? So PERFECTLY fabulous! She has the blonde hair, the shoes, the pink outfits that match everything, the truly TRAGIC love story (why doesn't SHE get the guy? Seriously, it makes no sense!), oh, and her character is popular. She's even got a whole song devoted to herself called "Popular"!

And everyone loves her because she's better than everybody else.

She was nominated against Idina Menzel that year (it was 2003, I remember, because Mom and Daddy had just bought the big-screen TV so that Ryan and I could have a party with the Drama Club and watch the Tony Awards!), and we watched the performances.

(And seriously, Tony people, PUPPETS? The Puppet Show wins against Wicked? Daddy had to by a new TV because I threw one of my Jimmy Choo shoes at the screen and broke it!)

ANYWAYS, they announced the winner for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical and to my horror, poor little Cheno didn't win! She was so gracious, though, smiling and clapping for her co-star. She deserved something for that ALONE, like… another song by Mr. Steven Schwartz written just for Glinda.

I promise you, Cheno. I WILL make it to Broadway, and I will wear your cute shoes and pink clothes and sing "Popular", and then I will step on Elphaba's head afterwards, so everyone can see what a dumb character she is.

Ugh. Idina Menzel WINNING. Please.

Sharpay Evans
High School Musical Movies
311

This is so true. No, really! Let me explain.

It was second grade, and Aaron Adamansky (there is some trouble right there – his initials are "AA") was in my class and he refused, absolutely refused to go on our field trip to The Adobe Theatre and their wonderful production of Fiddler on the Roof. Seriously, fabulous dancing during the Hovah Ballet sequence. I was moved to tears! I knew, in my heart, that I would have to audition for this musical at some point in my life and get the role of Hodel, since let's face it, she's got the best songs out of all the girls in the show!

That aside, Aaron refused to go. At 7 years old, he threw some temper tantrum and I told him in a very calm and polite voice to move his butt onto the bus so we could go watch the plight of the Jews, but oh no. He wouldn't listen.

Now? Now he is one of those stupid skateboarding jerks with failing grades. He probably doesn't date anyone, either. Oh, and he's got shaggy hair and everything. Disgusting! I bet it's only a matter of time until he winds up in jail with a harmonica, trying to survive the big house ALL because he wouldn't go and see a cute little production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Mommy and Daddy were so proud of me once they saw me as Hodel, by the way! Cute blonde ringlets and everything! I was the PERFECT Jewish-Russian girl, once they let me wear my sparkly pink outfit to go with everything. See if I wind up in jail!

Sharpay Evans
High School Musical Movies
275

Dear Troy Bolton,

I know that you think you're completely awesome because you and Gabriella scored the leads in Twinkle Town, but honestly, that doesn't mean much. Hello! You're a jock. You stay on your side of the cafeteria hanging out with the dumb cheerleaders and tell your annoying girlfriend that she needs to hang out with what's-her-name and all the nerds.

I'm in charge of the Drama Club, and I always will be. Oh, and Ryan, too.

See, there's a code. The code of the future. Imagine life is like a big black magic 8-Ball, okay? Can you do it? Good. Now, when you flip it over to see what your future holds, yours says something like, "Don't count on it" or "My reply is no" when it comes to your life on the stage as a singer/dancer/actor. You just run along and be a basketball player and let me do the real work. I was born to be on Broadway. When I look at the magic 8-ball, do you know what it says for me?

"Without a doubt". I'm not joking!

I couldn't bear to bring this bad news to you in person, which is why I'm slipping it into your locker. I know you'll cry and probably run to Gabriella for comfort, but you can tell her she's got the same future. Then you can cry together.

Oh, and the next musical that Ms. Darbus is putting on? It's mine. Got it? Mine.

Well, and Ryan's.

Love and Kisses,
Sharpay!

Sharpay Evans
High School Musical Movies
253

I remember when I was cast as Maria in The Sound of Music. It was one of the most defining moments in my career as a singer/actress. I mean, I was only five! How many kids can say that happened to them? Well, no one else here in Albuquerque, I'll bet.

It WAS slightly awkward when they cast Ryan as my love interest and then the director had to cut all of those scenes out. Whatever. Did it matter? Not really because the two most fabulously talented people had been cast. The End.

I hated my outfit, though. PLEASE. Would Maria really have been a nun and dressed like THAT? I don't think so. If God gives you a beautiful voice and a beautiful body (which, since I was playing her at the tender age of five, I didn't have the body quite yet but the VOICE was there), then that stupid black and white thing? Had to go. Something with sparkles would have been better. If I knew THEN what I know NOW? I would have hired that guy that does the better arrangements of Kelsi's stupid songs for me to perform with Ryan.

Can you picture that? Me as Maria in a BEAUTIFUL pink and blue sparkly outfit singing all those songs? I can hit those high notes EASILY. Plus that musical is a much better one than Twinkle Town <s>which I was only the understudy for, anyway</s> and it looks better on my resume.

Broadway, here I come!

Sharpay Evans
High School Musical Movies
251

Sharpay Evans spun on her cute Prada heels and nearly stormed her way through the halls of East High School, knocking people out of her way left and right. She didn't even both to check and see if her brother, Ryan, was following or not.

"Gabriella is a... a..."
